Prefabricated structural wall system saved the GC 10-12 weeks on their schedule, allowing MEP trades to start earlier than a traditional construction approach.
Digital Building Components has finalized the structural framing on a three-building student-housing project located in Northern California. While prefabricating the load and non-loadbearing panels, 117,371 hours were spent without a single recordable safety incident.
The 185,000 sq. ft. structure was erected in 109 working days, averaging 1,600 sq. ft. installed per day. The 5,185 CFS panels were prefabricated in the Phoenix, AZ factory – totaling approximately 740,000 sq. ft. of surface area.
“This was the largest project for Digital Building Components to date,” said Project Manager Jonathan Grant. “The first building of this project was unique in that its five-stories in a seismic zone constructed fully from cold-form steel.” Grant also noted that all 206 shipments were delivered on-time. “That’s 144,000 miles of oversized shipments, all on-time. I am thankful and proud of the entire Digital Building team and their diligent effort on this project’s success,” said Grant. The Digital Building contract value for this project was $9 million.
