The Kaiser Permanente Fresno Medical Office Building (MOB) is a 57,515-square-foot X-Series EIFS facility featuring 416 prefabricated panels with integrated windows and Mission-style architectural elements. Delivered in partnership with Swinerton Builders and CannonDesign, the project expands access to care for Fresno’s growing population.
DBC accelerated the construction timeline by installing an average of 14 panels per day over 28 days eliminating approximately 19,000 on-site labor hours. This efficiency showcases the power of off-site prefabrication in delivering high-quality healthcare infrastructure faster. Inspired by Fresno’s embrace of California Mission heritage, DBC’s prefabricated EIFS panels reflect traditional design while meeting modern performance standards. Architectural features like the accent base of wall, pop out water table band, and multiple low roofs enhance visual depth, protect the façade, and support zoning flexibility.
Panelizing the building’s complex geometry especially with multiple low roofs pushed the limits of off-site construction precision. DBC partnered with Intertek to conduct ASTM D4541, C1521, and E1105 tests. A custom walk-in vacuum chamber allowed real-time observation of panel performance, ensuring quality without disrupting the test environment.
One of the greater benefits of offsite prefabrication is improved safety. DBC off-site fabrication process incorporates ergonomics and logistic solutions to support healthy, efficient production. On-site the installation crew is trained in fall prevention, rigging and first aid. Our crew also receives heat illness prevention training annually, which became a factor as we installed panels in the middle of summer in California.
